The Summer Camp at a glance

Dates:	28 July 2024 – 11 August 2024 (two weeks, Sunday to Sunday)
Participants:	A maximum of 16 girls and 16 boys each aged between 12 and 14 from Germany and all over the world.

Middle Weekend:	Excursion to the Chiemgau Alps to the castle's own hunting lodge on the Heuberg (with possible overnight stay), climbing garden and team building.

A considerable number of boarding schools in both Germany and beyond offer summer camps. Why should you choose Schloss Neubeuern? Here are just a few reasons to consider:

Digital learning

Schloss Neubeuern enjoys national and international renown as a beacon school for digital learning. Our Summer Camp enables participants to gain initial experience in this area. Each pupil is provided with an iPad, which they will make intensive use of during both lessons and project work. Access to SOFATUTOR also gives them a first taste of both the inverted classroom and personalized learning. We make sure that classes are of a manageable size of no more than 8 pupils.

And the best thing is: every pupil receives a one year subscription for SOFATUTOR as a present. That way learning is more fun even at home.

School uniform

Our pupils are required to wear uniform during the school day as a clearly visible symbol of our school community. Far be it from us to deprive Summer Camp participants of that experience! They are therefore each provided with a basic set of school uniform, though they can also choose to buy their own if they wish. Each pupil is also presented with a school polo shirt as a welcome gift. The wearing of school uniform is compulsory from breakfast to the end of lessons at 1 p.m.

Consistent, value-oriented education

The most important pillars of the education provided at Schloss Neubeuern are values and personal development. Here again, we seek to give Summer Camp participants an initial impression of what this means. Our standard School and Boarding School Rules therefore apply throughout the camp, with all participants strongly advised to take a close look at them in advance. They will naturally also receive a detailed reminder of the most important elements upon arrival.

A culture of feedback

We want Summer Camp participants to take as much away from their two weeks at Schloss Neubeuern as possible. We therefore use our Privilege Model as a basis for feedback sessions during which participants and staff reflect on not only what they have experienced, but also what they can learn from it. Participants also receive a certificate of attendance (including a written report) after the end of the camp.

Schloss Neubeuern – where the fun comes naturally

Our Summer Camp is specially designed to enable participants to have a great time together – without the aid of digital crutches. With the exception of the iPads provided to them for the purposes of digital learning, participants are therefore required to leave their digital devices with the camp managers for the duration of their time with us. They can have their devices back to speak to their parents during a daily communication window. They are naturally also permitted to use their school iPads to make Skype calls.

Supervision

The aim of the Summer Camp is for participants to gain a realistic impression of life as a boarder at Schloss Neubeuern. The entire programme is therefore delivered and supervised by employees and former pupils of Schloss Neubeuern.

The mentors in charge of ensuring that pupils are safe and properly supervised at all times while boarding with us are an experienced married couple supported by an enthusiastic, responsible team of former pupils. Lessons and projects are led by teachers, mentors and employees on the Schloss Neubeuern staff, thus ensuring that participants get a realistic impression of daily life at the school. Our term-time head chef is also on hand to give them a taste of just how delicious and healthy meals are at Schloss Neubeuern.

The Principal and the Headmaster both remain on site throughout the camp. Working in cooperation with the camp team, they ensure that the Summer Camp runs smoothly and is an enriching and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Accommodation

The girls and boys who join us for the Summer Camp are accommodated in double rooms with en suite bathrooms in the comfortable, modern Kronehaus. In addition to a spacious lounge and fully equipped kitchen, they also have access to washing machines/dryers, ironing facilities and a music room with a piano.

The levels of tidiness expected from the children are defined in our Boarding School Rules, which require rooms to be kept tidy at all times, beds to be made and bathrooms to be treated with care. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned by our cleaning staff every morning.
