The Neubeuern Landschulheim was founded in 1925 by Baroness Julie von Wendelstadt. Together with the headmaster Josef Rieder, she opened the rooms of the castle and the neighbouring Gut Hinterhör estate as her “little school” with the conviction that knowledge and a good character education should be made possible for all children and young people – regardless of social status, origin or religion.

Foundation Landerziehungsheim Neubeuern

After the war, in 1948, a small circle of former pupils of the country school (Landschulheim), together with heiress and benefactor Marie-Therese Miller von Degenfeld-Schonburg, succeeded in re-establishing the school in the form of a charitable foundation. To this day, Schloss Neubeuern is run with deep ties to its founder and in the spirit of its founder.

About Schloss
Neubeuern

The birthday of my aunt Julie Wendelstadt, the founder of the school, was on 1 March. In 1925, she made this day the school’s birthday and thus the school was founded. My aunt’s motto in life was always “Noblesse Oblige”, according to which one should act in all situations in life. It is very important to me to pass this commitment on to you. Since my aunt’s death 63 years ago, we have endeavoured to uphold this motto. I ask you never to forget this sentence.
