Presentations from around the world

The International Weekend kicked off in the morning with a lecture by social scientist Philip Anderson on the topic of integrating young refugees into education. After this not so light but impressive fare, students and guests fortified themselves with soups from around the world. Then, finally, the ribbon was cut for the International Fair, with the really great cultural and speciality stands of our international students from a total of 13 nations.
Afterwards, there was much amazement and laughter at the presentations and musiccontributions in the MINT Centre. Over coffee and cake, the guests listened to topics such as “characters from Russian fairy tales”, the presentation of the new Chinese city “Shenzhen” and the question of whether and when Holland will go under. And the waltz number 2 by Dmitriyevich Shostakovich, performed by Shichao and Weixi, was a real “feast for the ears”.
Under the direction of Markus Weng, there was also a sophisticated musical programme for the festive dinner. For example, the instrumentalensemble presented a wonderful interpretation of “Pirates of the Caribean”. Xiaotian’s unique vocal contribution “Yu mei ren” was the clear highlight of the evening.
