In 2023, the association and foundation celebrate their 75th anniversary. The foundation in 1948 marked a new beginning for our boarding school, which was founded by Julie von Wendelstadt in 1925.
“Noblesse oblige” was always the motto for her and all those who were with her. Education and knowledge were to be accessible at her “little school” – regardless of social status, religion or origin. Against the backdrop of a Protestant Christian humanity, she laid the foundation stone for Schloss Neubeuern, which has now been in existence for almost 100 years and whose tradition we Altschüler uphold as much as possible. In doing so, we are following in the footsteps of the members of the founding consortium and the association, most of whom were former pupils and, like Julie von Wendelstadt, had to witness the closure of the school in 1943. You can probably see some of these members in the 1948/1949 class photo on the front page.
This issue of NEW is very much concerned with the topic of tradition, because we clearly sense that farewells are approaching and the future is taking its course. It is up to all of us to help shape this future and convey our understanding of the values of past generations.
